Facts About
The HIKE Fund, Inc.
|
The purpose of The HIKE Fund, Inc. is
to provide hearing devices for children
with hearing impairments from new born through twenty years of
age, whose
parents are financially unable to meet this special need. |
Children are eligible to receive a grant providing the need is
verified by a
prescription from an audiologist or physician. |
The HIKE Fund, Inc. is administered
by a Board of Directors composed of
individuals from fields of Audiology, Business, Education,
Labor, Law and
Medicine. |
The HIKE Fund, Inc. has awarded many
types of devices including, but not
limited to: hearing aids, FM systems, closed caption converters,
tactile units
and alerting systems. |
- 100 Children provided with hearing devices each year.
- Total operating expenses is about 7%.
- Fully staffed by unpaid volunteers from throughout the United
States.

the Relatives of Recipients |
One mother, said through her tears:
"My son, for the first time in his life will be able to hear my
voice." |
Another mother relates that after her daughter was fitted with a
new device to
see if it would help; "We walked out the door of the center and
she looked
up at me and said, 'Listen mommy, the birds sing.' " |
The parents of a two year old said that in just a short time
their son stated he
could hear the telephone ring, and the baby crying. |
A grandmother, said her young granddaughter can now hear the
sounds that
we all take for granted. |
