California Philanthropic Project for 2008

Diabetes Society Kamps for Kids

2008 Philanthropic Project

This is the largest camping program for kids with diabetes in the USA.  It currently serves over 460 children, teens and families, per year, all over the State of California.

More than 6.2 million kids and adults are diabetic and don’t realize they have the disease.  These camps provide the necessary medical attention that the kids with diabetes will need.  They also provide them with a better understanding of diabetes, to develop confidence in effective diabetes self-management techniques, to learn and expand social skills, all in a fun-filled camp atmosphere.

We will be providing funds for “camperships” which will range from $25.00 to $65.00 depending on the type of camp offered.  We will also be providing sporting equipment to be used at the various camps.  So…you may donate money as well as sporting equipment.

A sporting equipment “wish list” has been provided as well as a form to report equipment donations.  All sporting equipment donations are to be given to Mr. Journey, Associate Grand Guardian, while all monetary donations for “camperships” are to be sent to the Grand Secretary.

HAPPY CAMPING!
